CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 79.6% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

01What you're trading

A contract on the price. Not a share in the company.

Capped by a ±20% daily price limit

Either side, one instrument

Go long if you think Unitree is worth more than the market says. Go short if you think the debut has run too far. Same contract, same mechanics.

No expiry, nothing to roll

Hold a view for an hour or for months. There's no contract to roll and no date that forces you out of a position you still want.

You know the cost before you hold it

No hourly funding. A weekly swap rate is set in advance and posted as daily entries at 17:00 New York, so the cost of carrying a position isn't a moving target.

The contract's price references Unitree's listed share price on the Shanghai STAR Market, converted into US dollars. It is not a share and it doesn't become one. You hold a position in a contract for difference with no claim on the company's assets, earnings or governance, and no route from the contract into the stock.

The pricing reference transitioned at listing. Open positions carried through with no action required from holders.

There's no hourly funding. A weekly swap rate is set in advance and posted as daily one-seventh entries at 17:00 New York. The price step you'll see around that time is offset by the swap — it's net-zero, not an error.

Margin is 50% for retail clients and 20% for professional clients — 2x and 5x. That's lower than perpetual venues elsewhere, deliberately. Standard CFD margin-call and stop-out rules apply, with no auto-deleveraging, no insurance-fund mechanics and no liquidation fees.

Worth knowing

Leverage magnifies losses as well as gains, and a stop can be filled at a price materially worse than the level you set if the market gaps.

The STAR Market trades 09:30–11:30 and 13:00–15:00 China time on weekdays. UNITREE.CN-PERP is quoted 24 hours a day, seven days a week. When something happens on a Saturday, you can act on it.

It cuts the other way too. The contract can travel a long way while the exchange is closed, and it can do that while you're not watching. Exchange price limits cap the shares at ±20% a day after the first five sessions; no such limit applies to the contract.

Not realistically, if you're outside China. Domestic retail access to the STAR Market needs roughly ¥500,000 in average daily assets over 20 trading days plus two years' trading experience. Foreign access runs through the QFII programme, and Stock Connect only reaches STAR Market names once they join the SSE 180 or SSE 380 indices — which a new listing hasn't.

You also couldn't sell them short. That's the side this contract opens up.

  1. Open and verify your account. A few minutes. You'll need identification and proof of address.
  2. Fund your account. Methods vary by region, and most credit quickly.
  3. Search UNITREE.CN-PERP. Choose long or short, then set your size and risk controls before you enter — including for the hours you won't be watching.

It's probably not for you if you want share ownership, dividends, or a long-term holding you can put away and ignore. This is a leveraged trading instrument with an ongoing cost of carry, not an investment in Unitree.

02The company

Two cases. Both are real.

We'd rather you traded this with a clear picture than a flattering one, so here are both halves of it.

The case for

84% of build cost made in-house — its own motors, reducers, encoders, joint modules and LiDAR.
  • ¥1.70bn revenue in 2025, up around 335%At a 60.1% gross margin on the main business.
  • Profitable at a scale nobody else has reachedIt's the only humanoid maker of this size that makes money. Figure AI, valued privately near $39 billion, has no meaningful revenue.
  • Around 5,500 humanoids shipped in 2025More than any other company on its own reported figures, with over 35% of revenue earned overseas.
  • Only 10.6% of revenue from its top five customersNo single-client dependency to lose.
  • ¥6.1 billion raised at IPOUpsized from a ¥4.2 billion target, funding the next research and development cycle.

The case against

41× what the sector average pays for the same earnings. It issued at 219.2× and opened near 1,599×.
Unitree, at the debut open~1,599x

  • Growth is slowing sharplyFY2025 revenue grew around 335%. First-half 2026 guidance implies roughly 36–45%, and Q1 net profit fell 47.7% year on year.
  • Margins are compressing on purposeAverage humanoid selling price fell from around ¥590,000 to ¥166,400. As cheaper units take more of the mix, blended gross margin falls.
  • Around 7% of the company actually tradesThe rest is locked for 12 to 36 months and no lock-up has expired yet. A float that small amplifies moves in both directions.
  • It's on a US restricted listAdded to the Section 1260H list in June 2026, barring US defence contracts — on a business earning over 35% of revenue overseas.
  • A debut this violent is the risk, not the rewardIt opened 629% above issue and gave back about a fifth before lunch. A leveraged contract on that price does the same, overnight and at weekends.
Sources: Unitree's published prospectus and issuance announcement, its 19 August 2026 debut, and Pepperstone research. Derived: 1,599× is 219.2 × (1,100 ÷ 150.80); 41× is 1,599 ÷ 38.6. Both are trailing multiples and both move with the price. Shipment share is disputed — Omdia credits AgiBot with a larger 2025 unit share. Past performance is not indicative of future performance.
